New Years Eve Hike

we went to runyon canyon today to take a morning hike. It was a beautiful morning. Bright, clear, with a little wind. It was a great way to start our last day of the year. We may go back tomorrow morning to try another path. So many cute dogs along this trail it was fun to see them roaming around off leash with their owners. Enjoy your last day of 2007!
see you next year.

more snow

This feels like a distant memory since I am living in the sunny warm temps of LA today. What a gorgeous day it was. Jerry and I enjoyed a fabulous sunny Sunday by making breakfast at home, and he made a cappuccino for himself and I sipped on some tea. We headed to Home Depot for some home improvement materials, and some black paint and brushes for some touch ups on some frames of mine. I'm prepping some artwork for an upcoming show. more news on that later. Now I am counting the days until I jet to Minneapolis to visit my dear friend Amy, her husband Sean and the adorable Vera Mae and I get to meet the newset addition to the family - Miss Iris. I can't wait. Hey - have you seen the new tv channel Ovation tv?? I've been obsessed with it lately. I watch documentaries on artists like Ray Johnson, and Rauschenberg, and Andy Warhol as well as an entire week dedicated to photographers. I highly recommend it. If I knew how to link to it I would. I've asked a friend to teach me so that I can start doing that. Enjoy your winter weather, home projects, and inspiring tv shows.

back from the holidays

Just back from Salt Lake City, Utah. Visiting family over Christmas. Took these photos on Christmas morning. I have a few more to share. I'm glad I brought the twinlens with me.
I took a few pinhole images as well but I need to scan them in.
it's nice to be home. My cats are happy about it too.
It was nice to see family but I wish it wasn't 23.8 degrees!! SHEESH! I truly am a Southern California gal. I love the mediterranean climate. But Jerry and I love adventures as well and we really branched out and discovered some places in town that were delightful. Especially the Vintage clothing store that had so many rare and beautiful pieces of clothing that we found ourselves stuck in there for hours.

another view of the pruning

It's still grey outside and raining today.

dec. 18th pruning

The tree got pruned. it was painful to watch. I know it's good for the tree to take off the parts that are heavy and weighing it down. I'm going through a pruning too. Internal toxins that need to come out. Mainly thought forms that are not serving me.
It is always painful to say good bye to habits - even when they are weighing me down. A habit of listening to negative thought forms and believing them is a habit I'm willing to prune. It raining today so a cleaning is occuring. I need a little cleansing too. Funny how that tree out front and I need similar things at similar times.

surrender

2008 is already proving to be a great year. I'm launching my workshops full force. One that is already getting some buzz is July 10-15th in Teotihuacan, Mexico. It is said that the layout of Teotihuacán is a model of the ascension of human consciousness; one that spans from the limitations the human rational mind to that of the absolute limitlessness of the infinite. Using the layout of the city we will spend four days shifting our attention from what we think we are suppose to photograph (the place of the mind), to a place of no expectation and of true creativity (the place of the heart & consciousness of the infinite). The energy of this sacred place is perfect to support our creative transformation. Through ritual, ceremony, photo excursions, discussion and meditation you will learn ways to focus your attention and bring new life into your photography.

food for thought

This image feels appropriate today for some reason. A broken wing inside a bucket that I hold out in front of my naked body.
When I took this image I was living in Minneapolis and I was confronting my personal questions about spirituality and religion. It's time to do more of this type of work, but around health and spirituality. There are so many schools of thought on healing and health it is amazing. There is a school in New York that teaches all the different types of nutritional healing so that you can have an unbiased look at all of them and become more intuitive about what your body needs and then if you choose to - share it with clients who seek guidance. I'm very drawn to this type of work. Food, nutrition, healing. I find it fascinating. The idea that live enzymes in raw food can and do heal people is an incredible thing. Today my mom and I went to a raw restaurant in Santa Monica and enjoyed it very much. Seaweed, avocado, nut cheese, cabbage, all wrapped up in a neat little package. Tasty.

2 month anniversary

yes - it's month 2 of married life, and so far it is very sweet. This photo was taken by Jerry on our very first date. he took it with his polaroid SX-70 Land Camera. He was teaching me how to use his 4x5 camera for an upcoming event I was assisting. He had already hooked my attention when I met him at Andrew and Kirsten's wedding on 3/3/2002, but breaking out his 4x5 camera didn't hurt. The polaroid was just more icing on the cake! He is such a sweet, honest, loyal, fun, dear soul. But then,,,,we get to play together with our camera gear. all I can say is triple yum.
